Winter training for our spring marathon, FARGO, can be challenging and unpredictable at times. But freezing temps, snow and slushy streets shouldn’t deter you from enjoying a great training session with us Here’s a handy guide to make sure are ready for whatever the north wind decides to blow in. However. please note two must-haves are missing from this check list, Yak Tracks/Ice Joggers (for icy conditions, especially if you do not have running trail shoes) and visibility articles such as REFLECTIVE tape or clothing, vests and/or lights. Please include them on this list if you do not already have them.
Keep in mind, no matter what temp is out there, we runners warm up so it feels 20 degrees warmer than it actually is. In chilly weather, this is a happy thing. Also, I encourage all to bring a bag of dry clothes to change into right after your run. You will get cold if you hang out in your wet running clothes.
Rule of Thumb 1: Change before you begin to get cold.
Rule of Thumb 2: When in doubt, LAYER!
