Dr. J :“From your experience, what are the most common reasons why runners seek your help?” ~ Signed Sore All Over, Fargo, ND

Dear Sore All Over, We treat injuries of all sorts- of course we treat the typical “chiropractic problems” of low back pain and neck pain, but we also treat knee, hip and foot injuries. That said, I think one of the main reasons runners seek help is for guidance on how to 1. address the injury that is keeping them from running and 2. return to running with as low of a risk of recurrence as possible. Generally, when runners come in, they are quite frustrated because of an injury that is hindering their training or keeping them from running all together. As much as we don’t like to hear it, sometimes when we have an injury, the best thing we can do is give it some rest. When I work with a runner, I do my best to allow you to keep running, but, if every time you run, the pain comes back, we may have have to find an alternative to running for a little while. Thankfully, experience and an understanding of the training you are going through allows us to help you decide when to run and when to pick an alternative activity like biking or swimming. ~ Dr. Aaron Jones
